What does unaccompanied minor mean and why do you need to pay fees? Also i want to be able to go around duty free and the benefit cosmetics vending machine without getting lost. Someone please help me. Its with Delta (airfrance/klm) airlines if it helps ?

If someone takes you to JFK, they'll take you right to the Delta terminal. After that, you can't get lost. There are overhead signs everywhere pointing you to the gates. The duty free shops are almost always lined up down a corridor- it's hard to get lost, and there are still those overhead signs pointing to the gates.

Look up your plane ahead of time to see if you have the inseat entertainment units. Some Delta planes didn't the last time I went to Europe.

Every airport is constructed/arranged in the same way. So look at a map and see that this is how yours is too. So if you know one, you know them all. Even in another country or language.

The program you are in is the Unaccompanied Minor program. Someone will be there to escort you to the next part of your flight and make sure you are in the right place at the right time.

If the worst happens, then find an airline employee and ask.

Unaccompanied minor means exactly what it says. There's a fee since the people at the gate and flight attendants try to keep an eye on you. They may sometimes give you a first class seat if available. Just check in early, go to the counter at the gate and they will help you. Let Delta know this is your first time and they will take care of you. I had a unaccompanied little girl sat next to me on first class to Cali. The flight attendants took great care of her and treated her like. Princess ...

Plan to be at your gate at least 20 minutes before boarding starts, so that even if you are late, you'll still have time. It is essential that you know where your boarding pass and passport are at all times. Don't fall asleep if you're not at your gate, and if you do want to take a nap, sit as close to the boarding area as possible, and maybe ask someone to wake you up once boarding starts. Bring a water bottle that you can fill up after security, as water on the other side will be expensive as heck. As for the shopping, you'll be in New York City before you leave, so go to a mall before you go to the airport.

DO NOT FALL ASLEEP IF YOU ARE NOT AT YOUR GATE! - cannot stress that enough.

I traveled back from Germany to JFK when i was 12. it wasn't too bad. i had someone escort me and they carried my backpack for me. Yes i was the last to leave the plane but i wouldnt have been able to navigate a german airport by myself. i was very nervous. now that i am 15 i feel fully capable of traveling alone and find it to make me feel very independent. i am mature for my age and my parents want me to see the world. if i have family or friends somewhere they let me go. there is so much security, honestly more cars crash than planes do. thats what my dad told me the first time. technically you are safer in an airplane than a car. and most people ride cars daily.

There are store and vending machines, and the airports have maps and they can point you in the right direction up on the gate marks.
